It's a four-day outdoor painting event hosted by Pines & Palms across Thomasville and Boston, Georgia. Artists paint on location at scenic spots around the region, culminating in a judged competition and a public exhibition and sale.
All skill levels are welcome, from lifelong professionals to artists just starting out. There's no experience requirement. Come with whatever medium and setup you prefer, and paint at your own level.
Registration is $100 (20% off for members). It covers all four painting days, the Artist Opening Reception and Exhibition, entry into Quick Draw, the Welcome Dinner, Thursday lunch, snacks, and a gift bag.
Throughout the week, there will be optional mini-lessons from our featured artists for $50 each.
Yes, bring whatever you already paint or sketch with. That could be a full easel setup with oils or watercolors, or nothing more than a sketchbook and pen. There's no required kit and nothing fancy to buy; the goal is to use what you have and what you're comfortable working with. We also recommend packing sunscreen and bug spray, since most of the event takes place outdoors.
Artists have exactly 2 hours to complete a piece on-site, capturing the scene in front of them as quickly and skillfully as possible. Finished works are judged by the Featured Artists.
Artists can have their canvases or paper stamped in preparation for the Quick Draw Event starting at 8am in the Unvacant Lot. The Quick Draw starts exactly at 9am and ends promptly at 11am. All paintings must be turned in for judging by no later than 11:15am.
Work sells at the Covey Nest Reception and Exhibition. Pines & Palms takes a 35% commission (30% for members) on sales.
Yes! Quick Draw and the Covey Nest Exhibition together offer $2500 in prizes and awards, including cash prizes for top placements. Prizes are open to registered participating artists.
